Here are some new photos of the earthworks at Hornby (taken January 2009)

The first photo (above) shows the motte in the centre, the bailey to the right, and the steep drop to the river to the left.

The photo above, shows the motte in the centre, the bailey to the left, and the bank of the bailey defences in the foreground. The ditch, surrounding the motte, can still just about be seen.

The photo above, shows the ditch in front of the bailey embankment. The artificial (modern) bridge over the deep ditch can be seen at the top left of the photo. The motte lays out of sight to the right of the photo.

This large panoramic view of the earthworks, shows the motte at the right of the photo, the bailey defensive embankments to the left, and the artificial (modern) land bridge to the left of the smaller tree.
