Here are some new photos of the remains of the motte and bailey castle at Kirkby Lonsdale.
The above photo shows the motte looking North. From this angle, the remains look in good condition.
However.....looking East, the damage to the motte is plain to be. The angle of slope on the right hand side of the motte indicates significant quarrying at some stage.
